Product Description
(This module is included in the System B)
The S516 module consists of two sections. A random function generator and a sample & hold with few extra features. The random generator (upper section) has two random outputs, a straight line (triangular shaped) output and a random gates output. The rate at which these random outputs change is controlled using the Rate Kinob/CV. Also a Clock In is provided to allow the rate to sync to an external clock, in which case the Rate Kinob/CV will be disabled.
The sample & hold section (lower section) is controlled by the upper section Clock In. Were each time a clock/trigger pulse is received, the smp in voltage is sent to the S&H out. If no cable is connected to the the Clock In, the positive triggers from the gate section above will be taken as a clock.
There are two extra features which are rather new to the concept of sample and hold. Namely the Max. out and Min. out. At the time of a new clock arrival, these two outputs do the same as S&H, they take smp in. After that Max. out keeps taking the smp in voltage as long as its HIGHER than it’s current voltage. The Min. out keeps taking the smp in voltage as long as its LOWER than it’s current voltage.
In practice, In-order to get usable results from the Max. out and Min. out. The smp in should preferably be changing at a slower speed than theĀ Clock In or at least a relatively not much higher speed. Otherwise the max and min will reach the highest and lowest values so quickly that they will remain constant most of the time.
