Product Description
(This module is included in the System B)
The SE20 Global Morph is a powerful module despite its simplicity. This module is different than any other module in the sense that its meant to control other modules. It can create variations of your presets and save them and morph between them to form evolving sounds with the move of a single knob!!. Here is how it works:
1. Turn the Morph knob to some position. Tweak the preset (your patch) as you want then click the Save button on the module. One of the blue LEDs will light up. Indicating that the preset variation is saved at this position.
2. Turn the Morph knob again to a different position. Tweak your preset again as you like to create a second variation. Click the Save button. A second blue LED will light up.
3. Now move Morph knob while playing the preset and watch how it morphs!!
You can store a maximum of 100 variations. Delete will remove the nearest variation to the current Morph knob position. Randomize will create random variations of your preset. You can control the randomization amount using Rand Amount knob. Limit/Off switch can be used to limit the randomization to a set of chosen knobs. For this to work, you have to tell the module which knobs you want. Here is how:
1. Make two variations as you did above and save them.
2. Place the Morph knob somewhere in between those two variations.
3. Set the Limit/Off switch to Limit and click Randomize. You will notice that this time the randomization is only applied to the set of knobs that CHANGED in between the two variations.
The Limit/Off switch will also limit the morphing itself to the knobs that changed in between the two variations.
With Trig In you can move the Morph knob with trigger CV. If the Amount knob is set to more than 12 o’clock the knob will move clock wise with every trigger. When the Amount is less than 12 o’clock the knob will move anti-clock wise.
The SE20 by default sends only it’s Morph knob automation movement to DAW. But when Send/Off switch is set to Send. The module will instead send all the controlled knobs automation to DAW (Not the Morph knob). This feature is only useful when you intend to record and later change the controlled knobs automation in your DAW*. Note here that in some DAWs like Reaper, things can get confusing some times. You may need to use Latch mode or flip between Read/Write/Touch modes to make things work.
Although there are 16 LEDs. That doesn’t mean that you can store only 16 variations. As mentioned above, you can store a maximum of 100 variations. Though if two variations are close they will light up the same LED. So these LEDs are only meant as a rough visual guide. Notice if you store multiple variations on the same LED, it will take that many Delete clicks to light off the LED. Notice also that no two (or more) variations can have the exact same Morph position. If you do that, the later variation will automatically replace the older one. Don’t also forget that you can press SHIFT while tweaking the Morph knob to get fine tune movement.
A few things to consider here. You can put more than one SE20 modules in a rack. The SE20 module can NOT control “Audio To DAW” modules. This is done on purpose to allow you to have a fixed output level/volume while randomizing. The SE20 also can NOT control other SE20 modules.
*If you manually record both the Morph and it’s controlled knobs in two different takes (and then do changes to the automation). This could result in a fight situation where your DAW is trying to move the knobs and the Morph knob is trying to move them differently. That’s why we don’t send them both at the same time.
