S910 Unary Tools

The S910 Unary Tools does some typical and useful operation that requires only one voltage as input, hence the name “Unary”. The first two inputs provide two inverter outputs at well as two rectifiers. The first rectifier (the top one) flips the negative part of the input and makes it positive. While the second rectifier (labeled HRect) zeros the negative parts.

 

There is also a square tool which multiplies the input by itself (power of 2). And a cube tool which multiplies the input by itself 3 times (power of 3).

 

The final tool a perpendicular. The formula for it:

If input is positive, output = 1-input

If input is negative, output = -1-input

If input is zero (or no cable), output = 1

You can use the perpend for example to smoothly flip an incoming voltage thats moving from 0 to 1, and make it move from 1 to 0. It also works for negative values too. It’s also useful if you don’t patch an input cable, to provide you with a constant voltage of 1V.
