A slew limiter is a module that slows down (smooths) the transitions in voltage. A typical application is to produce glide (portamento). The S509 offers two separate slew limiters. There are two modes of operation, constant Time and constant Rate which can be set using a switch. In time mode, the time of voltage transitions from one to another is always constant (set by the knob). In rate mode, the rate of change is always constant (set by the knob). To understand the deference, try small and large voltage changes in both time and rate. You would notice that rate mode will take longer to glide for larger voltage changes, while time mode will stay the same regardless of the voltage change.
